As an Associate Vice President, Brian Berning is responsible for originating, underwriting and performing due diligence related to new transactions.  Before joining the origination team, he was an asset manager at Capstone Advisors where he managed in excess of $1 billion of residential development ventures.

Prior to joining Capstone Advisors, Mr. Berning was with Ernst & Young LLP where, as a senior associate, he managed financing transactions, consulting services and audit engagements for clients throughout California, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Texas.  During his time at Ernst & Young, he worked with investment banks in the private placement of multiple debt facilities totaling approximately $1.2 billion.  In addition, he provided transaction support for multiple acquisitions and initial public offerings totaling approximately $1 billion. His experience includes working with leading homebuilders, land developers and commercial developers. Other industry experience includes hospitality, property management, life science, and manufacturing and technology companies.

Mr. Berning holds a Masters of Accounting (with an emphasis in Corporate Finance) from the Marshall School of Business at University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (with an emphasis in Accounting) from San Diego State University.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California, a member of the California Society of CPAs and a member of the Building Industry Association.
